Villaverde Accuses Peronists of Attempting to Block Her Swearing-In

Libertarian deputy Lorena Villaverde denounced today that the Peronist lawmakers proposing to prevent her from taking office are attempting to 'disqualify' her, amidst the scandal over a judicial case the elected legislator had in the United States and her ties to businessman Federico 'Fred' Machado, accused of drug trafficking. According to Noticias Argentinas agency, via social media, Villaverde rejected the accusations against her, stating they are 'three invented cases, three firm acquittals.' 'The only truth is the reality: I was elected by the people and the Justice has already spoken. Thank you, God,' Villaverde stated. Villaverde also published an excerpt from the speech given yesterday by Senator Luis Juez, who defended the elected senator and rejected the arguments put forward by Peronism to accept the impugnation filed by the PJ of Río Negro. Juez stated yesterday that 'technically and juridically there is absolutely no impediment. Those who try to disqualify me are not fighting against me, they are fighting against the sovereign will of the Río Negro people who chose the change led by our President Javier Milei. Let's not invent procedural law, the natural judges who investigated various procedural situations. And they have already lost that battle.'
